10. What can I expect as a member of the KCYWS?
The mission of the KCYWS is to establish a premier youth wind ensemble in the Kansas City metropolitan area. Through literature that is powerful and designed to stretch musicianship, the KCYWS will foster the development of sophisticated musical skills and strong values among its members in an artistic and inclusive environment.
As a member of this ensemble, your contribution and investment in the musical performance yields high rewards and ensures a lasting appreciation and contribution to art. Leonard Bernstein is quoted in saying, “I cannot live one day without hearing music, playing it, studying it, or thinking about it.” This ensemble brings an opportunity for young KC Metro musicians to collaborate on incredible performances and experience music in another light.
